Conference

On the eve of my departure for E2EVC Athens I feel it is time for a laudation. Let me explain why. Athens will be my 22nd E2EVC out of 40 events total. In the past eight years, I attended every single E2EVC event in Europe and the US. There is a reason for that, of course. It is certainly not an overabundance of time on my part or even wanderlust. It is simply the fact that E2EVC’s creator, Alex Cooper, has done the most remarkable thing. He single-handedly established the Citrix community in Europe (and helped along the greater end-user community quite a bit). That is a - very - significant achievement.

I love to learn, teach and network. Conferences and community meetings are the perfect events for that. As in previous years I try to attend as many events as I can. Here is a list of where I have been this year and where I plan to be. I hope you can make it to at least one of these, they are all more than worth it!

What do I do for a living? I travel to community conferences, of course. In 2012 I spent 44 days going to 10 different conferences - err, wait, that is I would love to earn a living that way, but of course I have to work like everybody else. Nevertheless, having my own company I can be flexible as to how and where I spend my time off. Apart from being with my family there is little else more compelling than meeting my peers, talking to thought leaders in the industry and hanging out with overall great guys. In 2012 I have been doing that a lot. I spent a whopping 44 days travelling. I went to 10 different conferences, 3 in the US and another 7 in Europe. And I presented at 7 of them.
